Blenda Sing (1960-2018)

Blenda C. Sing, passed away April 12, 2018, at the age of 57. To her family, she was known as Sissy. She leaves behind a grieving husband, Mark Swinson of 26 years; as well as her mother, Jewell Sing; brother, Buddy Sing; two sisters, Robin Sing and Sherry Burkley; and nieces and nephews.

Blenda was born and raised in a military family. Her father Robert H. Sing was a Green Beret. Pride in country and her father for his service was evident in all she did. She was proud to be an American. After graduating from high school in Tennessee, she obtained her undergraduate and master’s degree from Georgia State. She was the first in her family to receive a college degree. Though she moved around most of her younger years, she ultimately made her home in Snellville where she lived the last 25 years. There she became an integral part of the community by providing mental health support to the residents in the community. Blenda was always there to lend an ear and support people going through difficult times. Her family was no exception. Several years ago, Blenda and her husband became certified firearm instructors. Ultimately, this became a passion for them both and one which they chose to share, through the training they started. They wanted to ensure all knew how to protect themselves, but do it properly and safely. Blenda was outgoing, vibrant, and a bit of a daredevil. She was an enigma of girlie girl to warrior princess. She was definitely one of a kind. She is loved and she will be missed by us all. A light has gone out in our world.
